Desperately Seeking Victory

Blues played out a goalless draw at the weekend leaving them still searching for their first victory of the season. It’s the fifth time this season Blues have failed to find the net and with Isaac Vassell rumored to be out for at least the remainder of the year I think Blues will be ruing not bringing in a proven goal scorer this summer.

We’re now 6 games into the season, as well as one cup game, but Blues have yet to win a match and are already perilously close to the relegation zone. I know it’s early days and I’m not here bringing the four horsemen or anything like that, but the best way to avoid struggling is to distance yourself from the bottom as quickly as possible.

The Championship is easily one of the most unforgiving leagues in the world, it’s so competitive and teams can fall from the top quicker than Icarus after flying too close to the sun. On the flip side that does mean that Blues have the ability to turn things around but they don’t want to fall too far behind the pack.

Having been a critic I think it’s worth commending Lee Camps performance, I still don’t feel he’s the man for number 1 shirt but he pulled off a couple of decent saves today and potentially given time Camp could improve for Blues but he’s still not the best keeper on the books and you know that I think it’s foolish of Blues not to be utilising their best asset.

Blues will no doubt be thankful that they don’t play now until the 14th as it will give them a chance to regroup during the international break, as far as I know there won’t be any key players away on international duty so Monk should still have the full squad to work with. Our next fixture is against Baggies at home and it’s going to be a difficult one, especially given that the Baggies fired 7 past QPR, Blues will need to really bring their A-game and not throw away points as they have done far too many times already this season.

That said Blues do tend to perform better against tough opponents, today’s game was scrappy, it was probably one of their poorest performances so far, hopefully things will improve but things could be worse, we could be the vile.
