Blues were held to a draw as they relegated Ipswich Town sending them to the third tier in English Football for the first time in 17 years.
It was a game Blues should have taken all three points from realistically and when Juke scored early on it looked as though we’d be able to bag a few goals too but it seems Blues weren’t clinical enough with their chances. Every point matters though and Blues find themselves 6 points ahead of Rotherham who we still have to face as well.
I said before the game that Blues would potentially struggle in this one as Ipswich aren’t necessarily going to have the quality to attack Blues in a way that would enable us to play the counterattack football that we enjoy. Blues will need to be able to evolve and will require the ability to take the game to other teams as well as actually controlling it, especially as three of the four fixtures remaining involves teams below us.
With four games remaining it seems highly likely Blues will avoid the usual relegation battle that we’ve found ourselves scrapping in most years and we actually look like a more functional unit than in previous seasons too. There is certainly a feeling of optimism around the club as well as a period of consistency under Monk who will definitely already have plans in mind for how he wants the summer and next season to go.
It was great to see Jukey get on the score-sheet again at the weekend, we’ve paid a lot of attention to Che this season as he has managed to surpass the 20 goal mark but Juke has had a fantastic season too having netted double figures himself and assisting in 10 goals.
I’d like to see Blues push on and get a few wins from their last few games, finishing the season on a high!
